In 1995, Guy Boisvert was an information technology consultant, but then the firm for which he worked was sold. Like most of his colleagues, he found himself without a job but certainly not without resources, as described in the French language magazine PME (April 2000 edition).
In the past, he had worked on the design and marketing of an absentee management software package, and in 1996 he decided to make use of his experience to design a similar type of software to meet CSST standards. He founded Groupe AGI (the French acronym of Administration, Gestion, Informatique, or Administration, Management and Computing in English), and set up shop in Québec City with his partner Patrick Brassard, who had 14 years of experience in software consulting and design. In 1997, a third shareholder, Richard Jobin, joined the firm. Mr. Jobin was president and founder of Groupe AST, the largest occupational health and safety agent in Québec.
Ever since its inception, Groupe AGI's turnover has grown by more than 200%, and the organization now has 20 employees. It has also expanded physically, and has offices in downtown Montreal, with its two associate companies Groupe AST and Solutions Optimisst, as well as in Ontario, in addition to its original premises in Québec City's Technology Park.
Abak+ supports multiple currency control. It can also apply differentials for sub contractors and add customized invoices, while providing HR functionality such as an employee timesheet and for determining holiday, vacation, and other types of paid time off.
